our small businesses. their employees.

The pandemic’s effect on small businesses was one of the biggest challenges faced in my first term.

My office rose to the challenge to safeguard local establishments and their employees by advocating for small business grants, helping navigate ever-changing protocols, and building a network of business owners who can lean on each other to keep our community commerce corridors strong.

priority #1 was for Businesses to keep their doors open, and their employees on payroll.

My colleagues and I passed legislation that provided immediate relief, enforced new protections for workers, and overhauled outdated city policies to promote commerce. I know that passing these measures, and maintaining strong partnerships with our respective neighborhood Chambers, ensured a better commercial future in the 39th Ward.

the 39th ward is thriving, and open for business. #SpendSomeTimeIn39

My office helped to add dozens of new businesses to our neighborhood, added new manufacturing businesses to industrial corridors, and prioritized community input in decisions about zoning and the impact of business to neighbors. These actions have provided jobs for families, keeping our commercial activity strong and our communities vital as a result.
